Scripture: John 15:4–5

Jesus describes Himself as the vine and us as the branches. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit apart from the vine, we cannot produce lasting spiritual fruit apart from Him.

Sometimes we become so focused on what we're doing for God that we forget where our strength comes from.

We try to grow spiritually through our own effort. We strive to serve more, accomplish more, and become better. But Jesus reminds us that fruitfulness begins with remaining connected to Him.

We cannot become so focused on producing fruit for Jesus that we neglect abiding in the One who produces the fruit. Spiritual growth isn't simply about doing more. It's about growing deeper in our dependence on Christ.

As we remain in His Word, spend time in prayer, and surrender our hearts to Him, His Spirit begins to shape how we think, speak, love, and live.

Before focusing on what you need to accomplish today, make room to simply be with Jesus.

1. Have I been relying more on my own strength than on my relationship with Jesus?

2. What can I do to become more intentional about abiding in Christ daily?

Prayer:

Father, remind me that apart from You, I can do nothing of lasting spiritual value. Teach me to remain connected to Jesus in every season. Help me depend on Your strength rather than my own, and allow my life to bear fruit that reflects Your heart. In Jesus' name, amen.
