The Belt of Truth: Hold It Together
Scripture:
“Sanctify them by Your truth; Your word is truth.”
John 17:17
Devotional:
Truth is what holds everything in place. Paul starts with the belt because it kept the soldier’s armor secure - without it, everything else would shift or fall. In the same way, the truth of God’s Word keeps us steady when emotions, culture, or opinions try to loosen our foundation. Truth doesn’t just inform you - it anchors you.
When we live by truth, we stop living by temporary feelings. Lies unravel peace, but truth restores it. Every time you choose God’s Word over your emotions, you fasten the belt a little tighter.
Reflective Questions:
1. What lies or half-truths have been shaping how I see myself?
2. How can I make God’s Word my standard, not my feelings?
3. What’s one area I need to “tighten the belt” this week?
Prayer:
Lord, ground me in Your truth. When the world’s voices get loud, help me recognize Your voice. Let truth be what holds my heart, my thoughts, and my actions together. Amen.
Action Step:
Spend 10 minutes reading Scripture out loud today. Replace one lie with a verse that speaks truth over you.
