No Backup Plan
Scripture:
“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed.” John 12:24
Devotional:
Mary didn’t save part of the oil “just in case.” Once the jar was broken, it was gone. That’s uncomfortable for us because we like safety nets. We like options. We like obedience with conditions.
But delayed obedience is often disguised as wisdom. We say, “Later,” “When things settle,” or “When I feel ready.” Revival comes when Jesus is not our backup plan - He’s the plan. Trust grows when surrender is complete.
Reflection Questions:
1. What am I holding onto “just in case”?
2. Where have I delayed obedience instead of walking in faith?
3. What would it look like to trust God without a backup plan?
Prayer:
God, I confess that I like control. Teach me to trust You fully, even when obedience feels risky. I choose You over my safety nets. Amen.
Action Step:
Identify one decision you’ve been delaying. Ask God what obedience looks like today - not later.
