Jesus Wept
Scripture: John 11:35
“Jesus wept” is the shortest verse in Scripture, but it reveals one of the deepest truths about who He is. Jesus stood at Lazarus’ tomb knowing resurrection was moments away—yet He still wept. His tears weren’t rooted in doubt or defeat. They revealed His compassion for a broken world and His grief over the weight of sin, death, and unbelief surrounding Him.
Jesus was moved not because death had won, but because people were living as though it had. He saw hearts struggling to trust, hope worn thin, and faith clouded by what felt final. In that moment, Jesus showed us that God is not distant from our pain. He enters it. He feels it. And He meets us there before He ever brings the miracle.
“Jesus wept” reminds us that God is both powerful and personal. He does not rush past our pain to get to the breakthrough. He acknowledges it, sits in it with us, and then calls us into life.
Reflective Questions:
1. What does it mean to me that Jesus feels deeply?
2. Where have I been living as though hope is gone?
3. Do I believe God is present even before the miracle?
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for being near to my pain. Thank You that You don’t dismiss my tears or rush my healing. Help me trust that You are present with me, even in moments that feel heavy or uncertain. I choose to believe that You are both compassionate and powerful. Amen.
Action Step:
Take a moment today to pause with God—no asking, no fixing—just acknowledging His nearness.
