When Obedience Feels Uncomfortable

Scripture:

“Some of those present were saying indignantly… ‘Why this waste?’” Mark 14:4

Devotional:

Mary’s obedience wasn’t celebrated - it was criticized. Revival often disrupts comfort and challenges religious expectations. What looks like waste to others may be worship to God.

Obedience doesn’t always feel safe, logical, or socially acceptable. Sometimes it’s awkward. Sometimes it costs approval. But God honors obedience that flows from love, not validation.

Reflection Questions:

1. Have I avoided obedience because of others’ opinions?

2. What has God asked me to do that feels uncomfortable or may get misunderstood?

3. Do I value obedience over others’ approval?

Prayer:

God, strengthen me to obey even when it’s uncomfortable. Help me care more about pleasing You than protecting my image. Amen.
