An Audience of One

Sep 2, 2026

Scripture: Acts 20:19

“Serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials…”

Paul ministered to people, but he served the Lord. That distinction changes everything.

When we serve for people’s approval, their response begins to determine our faithfulness.

We’re excited when we’re appreciated but discouraged when nobody notices. Paul understood that people weren’t his ultimate audience, Jesus was.

An empty vessel doesn’t need recognition. Pride says, “Look at me.” Surrender says, “Look at Him.” Whether anyone notices or not, what we do for Jesus matters.

Application:

Find a way to serve someone today without needing recognition or anything in return.

Prayer:

Lord, purify our motives. Teach us to serve with humility and faithfulness, remembering that everything we do is ultimately for You. Amen.
