Have Faith In God

Scripture:

“Have faith in God.” Mark 11:22

When Jesus and His disciples passed the fig tree that He had spoken to the day before, they saw that it had withered from the roots. Peter was amazed by what had happened.

Jesus’ response was simple: “Have faith in God.”

Notice where Jesus directs their faith, not toward their own ability to believe hard enough, but toward God Himself.

Biblical faith isn’t confidence in ourselves. It isn’t positive thinking, and it isn’t trying to force God into the outcome we want. Faith rests in the character, authority, power, and faithfulness of God.

Hebrews 11 shows us men and women who lived this way. They obeyed when they couldn’t see the entire plan. They moved when God said move. They trusted promises they had not yet seen fulfilled.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1

Sometimes we want God to show us everything before we obey Him. But faith says, “God has spoken, and that is enough for my next step.”

Don’t measure God’s ability by what you can currently see. Measure your circumstances against the God you have come to know.

Am I placing my faith in a specific outcome, or in God Himself?

Prayer:

God, my faith is in You. Not in what I can see, not in my own ability, and not in circumstances working out exactly the way I expect. You are faithful, powerful, good, and trustworthy. Help me believe You, obey You, and trust You even when I cannot see what You’re doing yet. Amen.
