A Person On the Run

Aug 27, 2026

Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:22

“Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace.”

A useful vessel doesn’t stay still.

Paul gives Timothy two commands:

Flee. Pursue.

Run away from what leads toward ungodliness.

Run toward righteousness, faith, love, and peace.

Sometimes we spend so much energy trying not to sin that we forget there is also something we’re supposed to be running toward.

Following Jesus isn’t only about what we leave behind. It’s about Who we’re becoming as we pursue Him. When temptation comes, run. When an old pattern tries to pull you backward, run.

But don’t just run from something.

Run toward Jesus.

Run toward His Word.

Run toward faith.

Run toward love.

Run toward peace.

Run toward people who call you closer to God.

A righteous person is a person on the move—away from ungodliness and toward the things of God.

Application:

Identify one thing you need to flee from and one thing you need to intentionally pursue this week. Don’t only remove the wrong thing; replace it with something that moves you closer to Christ.

Prayer:

Lord, give us the strength to run from anything that draws our hearts away from You. Teach us to actively pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Keep our hearts moving toward You. Amen.
