Walk By Faith
Scripture:
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me.” Acts 20:24
Faith isn’t only something we believe. Faith changes the way we live. Paul knew following Jesus would cost him something. In Acts 20, he acknowledged that hardship was ahead, yet he refused to make comfort, safety, or his own desires the goal of his life. His desire was to finish what Jesus had called him to do. That’s what walking by faith looks like.
Sometimes faith means praying boldly. Sometimes it means waiting patiently. Sometimes it means obeying when obedience is uncomfortable. Sometimes it means releasing the plan we wanted because God is leading us somewhere different.
A faith-filled life continually asks: “God, what do You want?” instead of only, “What do I want?”
This is why emptying matters. When we’re consumed with protecting our preferences, comfort, image, and plans, it becomes difficult to follow wherever God leads. But when those things are surrendered, we’re free to say yes.
Faith becomes visible through obedience.
Reflect:
What is one area where God has been asking me to trust Him through action, not just words?
Prayer:
Jesus, I want to finish the race You have given me. Give me courage to obey You even when obedience costs me something. Empty me of anything that makes my own comfort or desires more important than Your will. Help me not only say that I have faith, but live like I trust You. Amen.
