When God Doesn’t Move Right Away

Jan 26, 2026

Scripture: John 11:5–6

Jesus loved Lazarus, Mary, and Martha—yet He waited. Sometimes delay feels like neglect, but in John 11 we see that waiting does not equal absence. Jesus knew the outcome before He ever arrived. What felt like silence was actually intention. God’s timing often confronts our expectations, especially when we want Him to act immediately. But faith grows when we trust His heart even when His hands seem still.

Reflective Questions:

1. Where have I mistaken God’s waiting for God’s absence?

2. What expectations do I have of how God should respond?

3. Can I trust God’s timing even when it’s uncomfortable?

Prayer:

Jesus, help me trust You when I don’t understand the delay. I surrender my timeline and my expectations to You. Teach me to believe that You are still working, even when I can’t see it. Strengthen my faith as I wait on You. Amen.

Action Step:

Write down one area where you feel like God is late—and intentionally choose to trust Him with it today.
