The Cost Of Revival
Scripture:
“She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.” Mark 14:3
Devotional:
In Sunday’s message, Zech reminded us that revival doesn’t happen accidentally - it happens when something is laid down. Mary didn’t sprinkle a little oil on Jesus; she broke the entire jar. What she carried was valuable, costly, and once broken, it couldn’t be taken back. There was no backup plan.
We often want revival without sacrifice. We want God to move, but we hesitate when obedience costs comfort, control, or reputation. Revival always requires something from us, not because God demands it, but because surrender makes
room for Him to move.
Reflection Questions:
1. What do I want God to revive in my life right now?
2. What would it cost me to fully surrender that area?
3. Am I willing to pay that cost?
Prayer:
Jesus, I don’t want revival on my terms. I want You. Help me recognize where I’m holding back because of fear or comfort. Give me courage to surrender fully. Amen.
Action Step:
Write down one area where you want revival - and what surrender might cost you.
