The Danger of Disconnection
Scripture:
Matthew 7:23
“Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
Devotional:
It’s possible to do “good works” for God and still be disconnected from Him. Jesus warned about people who prophesied and performed miracles but never truly knew Him. That’s a sobering reminder that activity does not equal intimacy.
When we live disconnected, we may look like we’re functioning for a while, but like a powerless outlet, eventually, everything stops working. Restoration isn’t about appearances - it’s about being plugged into God so His Spirit fuels our actions and aligns our hearts with His will.
Reflective Questions:
1. Am I doing things for God without really doing life with God?
2. How can I check if my works are flowing from true connection or from routine?
3. What does intimacy with God look like for me personally?
Prayer:
Jesus, I don’t want to live apart from You while thinking I’m close. Restore my heart so that everything I do flows from real intimacy with You. Keep me from the danger of disconnection.
