Knowing the Real Enemy

Oct 13, 2025

Scripture:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Ephesians 6:12

Devotional:

We live in a world where it’s easy to misplace our anger and frustration. We think our battle is with people - that coworker, that family member, that leader - but Scripture reminds us our fight is unseen. The enemy’s greatest deception is to get us fighting the wrong war. If he can keep our focus on people, he keeps us distracted from praying, forgiving, and walking in authority.

When you understand that your real enemy is spiritual, you stop reacting emotionally and start responding spiritually. The armor of God isn’t just a metaphor; it’s a lifestyle of spiritual awareness, discipline, and discernment.

Reflection Questions:

1. Who or what have I been treating as my enemy lately?

2. What piece of the armor of God do I need to strengthen right now?

Prayer:

Lord, open my eyes to see what’s really happening in the unseen. Help me not to fight people but to fight with prayer, worship, and truth. Teach me to walk in spiritual authority and discernment today. Amen.

Action Step:

Write a name down, then pray for them. Whoever comes to mind as someone you’ve been frustrated or hurt by, write their name on paper and speak a blessing over them. Ask God to shift your heart and silence the enemy’s voice that tries to turn people into targets.
