God With Us In The Ordinary

Scriptures:

Isaiah 7:14; John 1:14

Devotional

The miracle of Advent isn’t just that Jesus came — it’s how He came. Not in glory, but through a teen mother in an overlooked town. God chose closeness. The Word became human and moved into our neighborhood — our emotions, our battles, our exhaustion, our joy.

Sometimes we expect God to show up in fire, but more often He shows up in the quiet parts of our day: a deep breath that finally lands, a moment of clarity, worship in the car, a gentle reminder that you’re not alone. Hope is not a someday thing; it’s a “right now, right here” presence.

Because Jesus is “God with us,” you never walk into fear or uncertainty by yourself. You don’t face pressure alone. You’re held, strengthened, and seen — even in seasons when you feel stretched thin.

Reflect

Where have I overlooked God’s nearness recently?

How does remembering “God with us” shift my current worries?

Who in my life needs the reminder that they’re not alone?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for choosing to be close. Open my eyes to see You in my daily rhythms. Remind me that Your presence is steady, even when my emotions fluctuate. Help me carry Your hope into every space I step into today. Amen.

Action Step

During one routine task today (driving, dishes, getting ready), pause and say: “Jesus, You’re here.” Let that awareness settle into your spirit.
