Seek First, Not Second

Feb 24, 2026

Key Scripture:

Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…”

Devotional:

Seeking first is about order. What comes first determines what follows. When God is first, everything else aligns. When He is second, everything competes.

Pastor Steve talked about how we often look at people, especially when they’re thriving. When someone performs miracles, grows quickly, or seems to “have the formula,” we tend to stare at them instead of God. We look for methods instead of seeking the Kingdom.

But the Kingdom is not a formula. It’s alignment.

When you seek first the Kingdom, you’re saying: “God, You lead. I follow.” That means your ambition, relationships, calling, and desires all submit to Him.

Reflect:

1. What have I been seeking before God?

2. Do I want the results of the Kingdom more than the King Himself?

3. Where have I been tempted to copy someone instead of seeking God?

Prayer:

Father, reorder my priorities. I don’t want to chase outcomes. I want to chase You. Help me seek You first, not as a last resort.

Action Step:

Spend 10 intentional minutes in prayer before opening social media or checking your phone tomorrow morning.
