Don’t Stare At The Vessel
Key Scripture:
Acts 3:12 “Why do you stare at us, as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?”
Devotional:
When the lame man was healed, the people stared at Peter and John. They wanted to give them credit. But the apostles immediately redirected the attention back to God. There is a subtle danger in staring at the vessel instead of the Source.
We do this today with our leaders, influencers, gifted people, and successful believers. We want their method. Their strategy. But Peter and John modeled humility: “It’s not us.”
If we fix our eyes on people, we’ll either idolize them or compete with them. But when we fix our eyes on Jesus, we stay humble and aligned.
Reflect:
1. Have I placed too much focus on a person instead of God?
2. Do I look for “spiritual shortcuts” through others?
3. Am I quick to give God the credit in my own life?
Prayer:
Lord, keep my heart humble. If You move through me, may I always point back to You. Protect me from idolizing people or being distracted by them.
Action Step:
Thank God specifically today for something He did, and verbally give Him the credit.
