Cast It Off

Hebrews 12:1 “Let us strip off every weight that slows us down…”

Devotional:

The word “throw off” in Hebrews 12 comes from the Greek word apotithemi - to put away, lay aside, cast off. It’s intentional. It’s active. It’s not passive drifting away from sin. It’s decisive removal.

Revival costs something. Endurance costs something. You cannot carry old bitterness, pride, secret compromise, and expect to run freely. God will bring it up, not to expose you publicly, but to free you privately.

You don’t drift into endurance. You train into it.

Reflect:

1. What do I need to actively “cast off”?

2. Am I waiting for God to remove something He’s asking me to lay down?

3. Where have I tolerated what He’s asking me to surrender?

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, give me clarity and conviction. If there is something I’ve been holding onto, show me. I choose to lay it down. Teach me how to cast off what slows me down.

Action Step:

Fast one thing today (social media, sugar, entertainment, etc.) as a practical way of practicing surrender.
