Don’t Look Back At The Plow

Feb 17, 2026

Key Scripture:

Luke 9:62 “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

Devotional:

When you plow a field, looking back makes the rows crooked. You can’t move forward while constantly glancing behind you. Jesus wasn’t being harsh, He was being clear. Discipleship requires focus.

Pastor Steve used the plow as an image: when you start digging deep with God, buried things come up. Things you thought were dealt with. Things you tried to push down. But in revival, God plows the soil of your heart. And when He does, what’s hidden rises to the surface. That’s not failure. That’s freedom beginning.

Reflect:

1. What keeps pulling my attention backward?

2. Is there something I’ve buried instead of healed?

3. Do I really want transformation, or just inspiration?

Prayer:

Jesus, steady my focus. I don’t want to keep looking back at what You’ve already called me out of. When You bring things to the surface, help me face them with You instead of running.

Action Step:

Journal about something from your past that still tries to define you. Surrender it intentionally to God.
