The Cost Of Following Through
Scripture: 2 Kings 2:2
“As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.”
Devotional
When Elijah repeatedly told Elisha to stay behind, Elisha refused. Again and again, he answered, “I will not leave you.”
Elisha’s commitment wasn’t convenient. He had to keep moving, keep trusting, and keep following even when he didn’t fully understand what was ahead.
Many of us love the promises of God, but commitment is often tested in the process. It’s easy to quit when things get difficult, when prayers aren’t answered quickly, or when following Jesus requires sacrifice.
The difference between wishing and walking is follow-through.
God is looking for people who will remain faithful—not just when it’s easy, but when it costs something.
Reflection Questions
1. Is there an area where God is asking me to persevere?
2. What usually tempts me to quit too soon?
Prayer
Father, help me remain faithful when the journey feels difficult. Give me the perseverance to keep following You even when I don’t see the full picture. Teach me to trust Your leading one step at a time. Amen.
Action Step
Think of one commitment you’ve been neglecting. Take one practical step today to re-engage with it.
