Revival Begins With Humility

Mar 2, 2026

Key Scripture:

2 Chronicles 7:14

When we talk about revival, it’s easy to picture a gathering: a full room, powerful worship, emotional moments. But revival has never started with an event. It begins with a posture. Scripture tells us that if God’s people humble themselves and pray, then He will respond. Revival always starts with humility among His people.

Jay reminded us that the Greek definition of “revive” speaks of restoring and bringing back to life. That kind of restoration cannot happen in a heart that insists it is already strong. It happens in hearts that acknowledge their need. Humility is not weakness; it is honest dependence. It is recognizing that we cannot manufacture spiritual life on our own.

God draws near to surrendered hearts. When we lower ourselves before Him, He lifts us back to life.

Reflective Questions:

1. Where have I relied on my own strength instead of God’s?

2. Is there pride keeping me from deeper surrender?

3. Do I truly desire revival, or just comfort?

Prayer:

Father, I humble myself before You. Remove pride from my heart and teach me to depend fully on You. I don’t want to pretend that I am spiritually strong when I need You desperately. Draw near to me as I draw near to You.

Action Step:

Set aside time today to kneel physically in prayer as a sign of humility before the Lord.
