Joy Is Strength

Dec 15, 2025

Scripture:

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Nehemiah 8:10

Devotional:

Joy is not the same as happiness. Happiness shifts with circumstances, but joy comes from the Lord. In Nehemiah, God reminded His people—who were tired and rebuilding after loss—that His joy would sustain them. Not ease. Not comfort. Joy.

This Advent season, joy doesn’t mean everything feels finished or perfect. It means God’s presence gives us strength even when life feels heavy. When we draw from His joy, we’re reminded that we’re not carrying this season alone.

Reflection Questions:

1. What has been draining my strength lately?

2. Where have I been depending on circumstances instead of God?

3. How could God’s joy reshape my perspective today?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You that my strength comes from You. Help me receive Your joy, even when life feels unfinished or hard. Teach me to lean on You instead of my circumstances. Amen.

Action Step:

When you feel overwhelmed today, pause and say: “The joy of the Lord is my strength.”
