The Breastplate of Righteousness: Guard Your Heart
Scripture:
“God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:21
Devotional:
The breastplate covers the heart - the place where motives, desires, and emotions live. Righteousness isn’t about perfection; it’s about protection. Jesus’ righteousness guards you from shame and guilt that try to pierce your heart.
When you live rightly before God - repenting quickly, forgiving freely, obeying even when it’s hard - you keep your heart covered. Sin creates cracks; repentance repairs them. Don’t let the enemy convince you that one failure disqualifies you. Put the breastplate back on and keep moving.
Reflective Questions:
1. What thoughts or feelings are trying to pierce my heart right now?
2. How has guilt or shame tried to keep me from wearing righteousness?
3. What does “living covered” look like for me this week?
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for covering me with Your righteousness. Guard my heart from condemnation. Teach me to walk in repentance and purity. Amen.
Action Step:
Confess one area you’ve been avoiding to God today. Let righteousness, not regret, define you.
