Exposing Deception
Scripture:
“And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”
2 Corinthians 11:14
Devotional:
The devil doesn’t show up with horns and a pitchfork; he often comes dressed as what we want most — approval, success, comfort, control. His deception sounds reasonable because it appeals to our desires. Eve didn’t fall for something ugly; she fell for something that looked good.
Deception thrives in darkness, but truth always exposes. When we measure everything — every voice, feeling, and opportunity — against the Word of God, deception loses power. The closer you walk with Jesus, the easier it becomes to recognize what isn’t Him.
Reflection Questions:
1. Where might I be mistaking something harmful for something “good”?
2. Do I regularly check my decisions and beliefs against Scripture?
3. What “angel of light” has distracted me from pursuing God’s truth?
Prayer:
Lord, reveal any lies I’ve believed about You, myself, or others. Shine Your light on the areas I’ve kept hidden. I choose to walk in Your truth, even when it convicts me. Amen.
Action Step:
Expose the lie. Write down one false belief you’ve accepted (about yourself, God, or others), then replace it with a verse of truth.
