Finding Hope in God’s Promises
READING:
1 Corinthians 1:26–31
DEVOTIONAL:
One of the greatest deceptions we face is the belief that we must be strong, wise, or impressive for God to use us. But Paul reminds us that God flips that script—He chooses the lowly, the weak, and the overlooked to reveal His glory. This isn’t an accident; it’s a deliberate strategy of heaven that silences pride and dismantles worldly standards.
When we place our hope in our own ability, we fall for a subtle lie: that our value is something we must earn. But the truth is this—God’s promises are not dependent on your performance. He calls you, not because you're ready, but because He is faithful.
His promise is that He is with you. His promise is that He will strengthen you. His promise is that He is working, even when you feel unqualified. Let those truths cut through the lies you may have unknowingly believed—and rest in the hope that His strength is made perfect in your weakness.
ASK YOURSELF TODAY:
1. What lie have am I unknowingly believing about my worth or ability—and how is it shaping my view of how God can use me?
2. What would shift or change in my life if I truly believed weakness was a place for God’s power to be revealed?
3. How can I begin to practice placing my hope in God's unchanging promises rather than my constantly changing circumstances?
PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for seeing value in me, even when I struggle to see it in myself. Forgive me for the times I’ve believed the lie that I need to be stronger, better, or more capable for You to use me. Remind me that Your promises are true—not because of what I can do, but because of who You are. Help me to rest in the truth that Your power is made perfect in my weakness. I choose today to place my hope in You, not in what I see, feel, or fear. Be glorified through my life, especially in the places I feel least qualified. Amen.
