Love People Not Your Comfort

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.” 1 John 4:7

Many of us don’t struggle with sharing the Gospel because we don’t love Jesus, we struggle because we’re afraid of people.

What if they reject me?

What if I say the wrong thing?

What if it’s awkward?

Fear keeps us focused on ourselves.

Love shifts our attention to someone else.

Pastor Steve reminded us that our responsibility isn’t simply to tell people about Jesus, it’s to genuinely love them. Loving someone isn’t based on what they look like, how they act, or whether they’re easy to talk to. It’s about connecting with them in a way that opens the door for them to connect with God.

Jesus never treated people like interruptions. Every conversation became an opportunity to reveal the Father’s love.

When we genuinely care about people, evangelism stops feeling like a performance and starts becoming a relationship.

Reflection

1. Have you allowed fear to keep you from loving people well?

2. Who has God placed in your life that simply needs someone to care?

3. Are you more concerned about saying the right thing or loving the person in front of you?

Prayer

Jesus, give me Your heart for people. Remove my fear of awkward conversations and replace it with genuine compassion. Help me see people the way You see them and teach me to love them without expecting anything in return. Use my life to point others toward You. Amen.

Pray for one person you’ll interact with today. Ask them a genuine question about their life and simply listen well.
