Wake Up

Feb 9, 2026

Key Scripture

James 4:8 “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

Devotional

Awakening starts with awareness. Before repentance. Before revival. Before restoration. There has to be a moment where we come to our senses - like the prodigal in the pigpen. We realize, I’m alive… but I’ve been asleep.

Spiritual sleep isn’t always rebellion. Sometimes it’s drift. It’s busyness. It’s striving. It’s serving God while slowly depending more on ourselves. As Zech reminded us, you can be physically awake and spiritually numb. Awakening is when your eyes open and you recognize distance. Not shame, but clarity. And clarity is mercy. Because the moment you see the gap, you’re invited to close it.

God’s promise is simple and staggering: if you draw near, He will draw near. Not might. Not maybe. Will.

Reflect

1. Where have I drifted without realizing it?

2. Have I mistaken busyness for intimacy?

3. What would it look like for me to intentionally draw near this week?

Prayer

Lord, wake up the places in my heart that have grown numb. If I’ve been drifting, show me gently but clearly. I don’t want to stay asleep in comfort or compromise. I choose to draw near to You today. Meet me there.

Action Step

Set aside 20 uninterrupted minutes today (no phone, no multitasking) and simply sit with God in Scripture and silence.
