Revealed Through Fire

May 25, 2026

Scripture

Exodus 3:2 “There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.”

Devotional

Long before the flames appeared above the disciples in Acts 2, God was already revealing Himself through fire. Moses encountered God through a burning bush. Israel followed a pillar of fire through the wilderness.

Fire often represented God’s presence among His people.

What’s remarkable is that God didn’t use fire simply to impress people. He used it to call them. Moses wasn’t given a front-row seat to a miracle just for inspiration, he was commissioned for a mission. God’s presence always had a purpose attached to it.

Sometimes we look at Pentecost as an isolated event, but it was actually another chapter in God’s ongoing story. The fire in Acts 2 signaled that God was still speaking, still leading, and still empowering His people. The difference was that His presence would no longer rest on a location, a tabernacle, or a select few leaders. Through the Holy Spirit, His presence would dwell within His people.

God still reveals Himself today. He still calls ordinary people into extraordinary purposes. The same God who met Moses in the wilderness desires to meet you wherever you are and remind you that His presence comes with purpose.

Reflection Questions

1. Where have I seen God’s presence guiding me recently?

2. Am I paying attention when God is trying to get my attention?

3. What purpose might God be calling me toward in this season?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being a God who reveals Yourself. Open my eyes to recognize Your presence in my everyday life. Help me not only to admire what You’re doing but to respond when You call me. Give me courage to step into the purpose You have for me. Amen.

Action Step

Spend five minutes today asking God where He is inviting you to partner with Him in this season.
