Change Isn’t Natural - It’s Supernatural
Scripture:
Zechariah 4:6
"‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty."
Devotional:
We all know what it’s like to want to change and fall short. Whether it’s a mindset, a reaction, or a cycle we can’t seem to break, we hit a wall—and the wall doesn’t move. That’s because real, lasting change isn’t something we work up on our own. It’s something only the Holy Spirit can bring about.
He doesn’t just tweak our behavior; He transforms our capacity. He gives us the ability to forgive when it feels impossible, the courage to obey when it's inconvenient, and the endurance to keep going when we’re tired of trying. This kind of change defies our natural strength—it requires supernatural help. And the good news is, we have access to it. We’re not stuck. We’re not hopeless. We’re just in need of His power.
Reflective Questions:
1. Where in my life have I been trying to force change without inviting the Holy Spirit in?
2. What would change in my life if I started acting like the Holy Spirit can do whatever He wants to do through me?
3. Have I ever seen God help me do something I couldn’t do on my own?
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You that I don’t have to rely on my own strength. I invite You into the places I’ve tried to fix without You. Fill me with Your power. Teach me to depend on You daily—not just for big miracles, but for small, everyday change too.
Action Step:
Write down one area in your life that feels “stuck.” Then declare aloud: “Holy Spirit, I can’t—but You can. Have Your way in this area.”
