The Weight Of The Cross

Apr 3, 2026

Scripture:

Isaiah 53:5

“But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”

Good Friday invites us to slow down.

We know what happens next, but today isn’t about rushing ahead. It’s about remembering the cross.

Jesus didn’t just die, He chose to stay. Through the pain, the mocking, and the weight of it all, He endured it willingly. What He carried wasn’t His, it was ours.

Sometimes we become so familiar with this story that we forget what it cost. The cross wasn’t symbolic. It was real sacrifice, real suffering, real love.

Before we celebrate the victory, we pause here. We remember what He carried for us.

Reflective Questions:

1. Have I taken time to truly reflect on what the cross cost Jesus?

2. Has this story become too familiar to me?

3. How does the cross change the way I live today?

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for the cross. Thank You for choosing to stay and carry what I couldn’t. Help me to never take this lightly, and to live in response to Your love.

Action Step:

Read Luke 23 or John 19 slowly today, and take a few quiet moments to reflect.
