Tear Down The Old Altars
Scripture: Judges 6:25–27
Devotional:
Before God used Gideon publicly, He gave him a private assignment: tear down the altar of Baal in his own household. This wasn’t convenient. It wasn’t easy. It was personal.
And sometimes, God will ask you to confront things that have been “normal” in your life for a long time. Old patterns. Old mindsets. Old agreements. We want new power, but we don’t always want to remove old altars.
But you can’t fully step into who God is calling you to be while holding onto what He’s asking you to release.
Freedom requires surrender.
Reflect:
1. What “altar” in my life is God asking me to tear down?
2. What have I normalized that God is calling out?
3. Am I willing to obey even when it’s uncomfortable?
Prayer:
God, give me the courage to tear down anything in my life that doesn’t honor You. Even if it’s hard, even if it’s personal—help me choose obedience. I want to live fully aligned with You. Amen.
Action Step:
Remove or distance yourself from one thing that’s been pulling you away from God.
