Jesus Shows us The Way

Dec 31, 2025

Scripture:

“Jesus answered, ‘It is written…’” Matthew 4:4 (see Matthew 4:1–11)

Devotional:

Pastor Earl pointed us to Jesus in Matthew 4. When Jesus was tempted, He didn’t argue with the enemy or entertain the lies—He responded with truth. Every time the enemy twisted Scripture or tried to create doubt, Jesus answered with “It is written.”

This shows us that spiritual warfare often happens internally. Jesus didn’t shout; He stood firm. He knew the Word, trusted the Father, and refused to let lies shape His actions. If Jesus—fully God and fully man—used Scripture to guard His mind, how much more do we need to?

Reflection Questions:

1. When lies come, do I tend to argue with them or replace them with truth?

2. What Scriptures do I need to become more familiar with?

3. How can I follow Jesus’ example when I feel spiritually attacked?

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for modeling how to stand firm against lies. Help me know Your Word and trust it. Teach me to respond with truth instead of fear. I want my mind anchored in what You say. Amen.

Action Step:

Choose one Scripture that speaks directly to a lie you face often. Memorize it or keep it somewhere visible today.
