Who Sits On The Throne?

Read: Proverbs 3:5–6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

Who sits on the throne of your life?

We can call Jesus Lord while still trying to maintain control.

Our plans.

Our timing.

Our comfort.

Our expectations.

Our way.

But an empty vessel has surrendered its contents.

If we want to become useful to God and His purposes, we have to continually empty ourselves of the things competing for His place. Sometimes the refining fire reveals that we’ve been asking God to bless our plans instead of surrendering ourselves to His.

Calling out to God requires humility: “Lord, I need You. Your way above mine. Your will above mine. Your purpose above mine.”

The throne was never ours to occupy.

And there is freedom in giving it back to Him.

Reflect:

Is there an area of my life where I say God is in control, but I’m still trying to hold onto the throne?

Prayer:

Jesus, You are Lord of my life. Forgive me for the places where I’ve tried to maintain control. Empty me of pride, fear, selfish ambition, and anything competing with You. I surrender my plans, expectations, and desires. Sit on the throne of every part of my life. Amen.

Today’s Action:

Open your hands during prayer today as a physical act of surrender. Name the things you’ve been trying to control and intentionally release them to God.
