Duty First

Jun 17, 2026

Scripture: 1 Timothy 2:5-6

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.”

Devotional

One phrase from the message stood out: “Duty First.”

When we hear the word duty, it can sound heavy or restrictive. But for a believer, our duty flows from love. Jesus gave Himself as a ransom for us. He fulfilled His mission completely, and now we are called to faithfully carry out what He has entrusted to us.

Our duty isn’t necessarily something dramatic. It’s often found in the ordinary moments: loving our families well, serving faithfully, sharing our testimony, forgiving others, and living lives that point people to Christ.

God isn’t asking us to do everything. He’s asking us to be faithful with what He’s given us.

Questions

1. What responsibility has God placed in front of me right now?

2. Am I serving faithfully or waiting for something bigger?

3. How can I honor God in the ordinary today?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for faithfully fulfilling Your mission. Help me to walk in obedience and steward well what You’ve entrusted to me. Give me a heart that serves You with joy. Amen.
