Planting in the Spirit
Scripture:
“Those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” Romans 8:5
Devotional:
Sowing into the Spirit doesn’t happen by accident - it’s intentional. Every day we choose what soil to plant in. Planting in the Spirit looks like making prayer a priority, renewing our mind with Scripture, worshipping in the middle of worry, choosing forgiveness when bitterness feels easier. Every small seed matters. Even when we don’t see fruit yet, something is growing beneath the surface.
When we set our minds on the Spirit, we align our desires with God’s heart. This is the difference between behavior modification and transformation. The old man works from willpower; the new man is empowered by the Spirit. Your obedience today becomes fruit tomorrow - not just for you, but for those around you.
Reflection Questions:
1. Where have I planted today: in the flesh or in the Spirit?
2. How can I shift one daily habit to be more Spirit-led?
3. Am I trusting the Spirit’s power, or relying on my own willpower?
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, teach me to plant in Your soil. Lead me into choices that bring life, and help me trust You with the harvest I can’t see yet.
Action Step:
Begin and end your days this week with intentional sowing - start with Scripture or prayer in the morning, and end with gratitude at night.
