Returning To Your First Love

Aug 6, 2026

Scripture

Matthew 6:33

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…”

Devotional

The greatest restoration of Jubilee wasn’t land.

It wasn’t finances. It wasn’t freedom. It was relationship. Every command in Leviticus 25 ultimately pointed God’s people back toward Him.

Sometimes we become so focused on what we want God to restore that we forget why He restores in the first place. He restores us so we can walk closely with Him. God never intended His blessings to replace His presence. His gifts should always lead us back to the Giver.

The question isn’t simply: “What has God given me?”

The better question is: “Has what He’s given me brought me closer to Him?”

Reflection

Have God’s blessings drawn you closer to Him—or distracted you from Him?

Prayer

Father, I never want to love Your gifts more than I love You. Draw my heart back to You. Restore my first love and renew my desire to seek Your presence above everything else.

Action Step

Spend fifteen uninterrupted minutes with God today without asking Him for anything. Simply worship, thank Him, and enjoy His presence.
