Strength Builds, Not Boasts
Scripture:
“Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.”
1 Corinthians 8:1
Devotional:
In the heat of battle, ego is the enemy. The moment we start fighting to prove ourselves, we’ve already lost ground. Being “strong in the Lord” doesn’t look like showing off spiritual maturity - it looks like choosing love when pride would be easier. Knowledge can make us look powerful, but love keeps us grounded.
True strength in warfare is the ability to build others up even when the fight feels personal. It’s recognizing that victory in God’s kingdom doesn’t come from being right - it comes from being righteous. The greatest warriors in the faith aren’t those who impress others, but those who love like Jesus did under pressure.
Reflection Questions:
1. Have I valued being “right” more than being loving?
2. How can I use what I know to build others instead of elevate myself?
Prayer:
Jesus, strip me of pride and self-reliance. Teach me to love in every battle, to see people not as opponents but as those You died for. Make my strength one that builds Your kingdom, not my image. Amen.
Action Step:
Encourage or pray for someone you’ve disagreed with recently. Choose love over ego.
