From Temple To People
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:19
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you…”
Devotional
Throughout the Old Testament, God's presence would fill specific places. The Tabernacle. The Temple. Mount Sinai. The fire of God would descend, and people would witness His glory from a distance.
But Pentecost changed everything.
In Acts 2, the fire of God no longer rested on a building - it rested on people. God's presence moved from dwelling among His people to dwelling within them through the Holy Spirit.
That connection between the Old and New Testament is powerful. God has always desired closeness with His people. Pentecost reveals the fulfillment of that desire through Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes we unknowingly live as though God's presence is only available during church services, worship nights, or emotional moments. But the Holy Spirit isn't confined to a building. He lives within believers every single day.
That means your everyday life matters. Your workplace matters. Your conversations matter. Your obedience matters. You carry the presence of God into places many people may never encounter Him otherwise.
Pentecost reminds us that we are now carriers of His presence.
Reflect
1. Do I truly live aware that the Holy Spirit lives within me?
2. How would my daily life change if I remembered I carry God's presence?
3. Are there areas of my life that don't reflect His presence well?
Prayer
Father, thank You for allowing Your Spirit to dwell within us. Help me never take Your presence lightly. Teach me to walk with greater awareness of You in my everyday life. Let my life become a reflection of Your love, holiness, and goodness wherever I go. Amen.
Action Step
Pause throughout your day today and remind yourself: “The Holy Spirit is with me here too.”
