What Are You Made Of?

Read: Proverbs 17:3

“The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the Lord tests hearts.” Proverbs 17:3

It’s easy to declare that God is good when life is good. But what happens when life doesn’t go according to plan?

What we go through often reveals what we’re really made of. Trials expose our personal theology, not simply what we say we believe about God, but what we actually believe when our faith is tested.

We sing that He is faithful.

We say that He is our provider.

We declare that He is in control.

But when the pressure comes, do we still believe it? The furnace tests the heart.

God isn’t asking us to pretend that painful things don’t hurt. He is inviting us to discover whether our trust in Him is rooted in our circumstances or rooted in who He is.

Reflect:

What does my response to difficulty reveal about what I truly believe about God?

Prayer:

Lord, search my heart. Reveal the places where what I say I believe and how I live don’t align. I don’t want a faith that only works when life is easy. Teach me to trust Your character even when I don’t understand my circumstances. Amen.

Today’s Action:

Finish this sentence honestly: “When life gets difficult, I tend to believe God is ______.” Then compare that belief with what Scripture says about His character.
