Destroy What Destroys You

May 5, 2026

Scripture: 1 John 3:8

“The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”

Devotional:

Jesus didn’t come just to comfort you, He came to destroy what’s been trying to destroy you.

That includes lies, fear, bondage, cycles, and anything the enemy has tried to build in your life.

And through the Holy Spirit, that same power now lives in you.

But here’s the tension: we often tolerate what God has already given us authority to tear down.

Gideon had to confront the altar in his own home before stepping into public victory. Sometimes the first battle isn’t out there—it’s in here. In our habits. Our mindset. Our compromises.

You don’t fight for victory. You fight from it.

Reflect:

1. What have I been tolerating that God is calling me to tear down?

2. Where have I believed a lie instead of standing in truth?

3. What does it look like to actively resist the enemy in my life?

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You that You came to destroy the works of the enemy. Show me anything in my life that doesn’t align with You. Give me boldness to tear it down and walk in the freedom You’ve given me. Amen.

Action Step:

Identify one unhealthy pattern or lie—replace it with truth today.
