Better Or Bitter?
Scripture:
“See to it that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” Hebrews 12:15
Life inevitably brings pain, disappointment, and hurt. Pastor Earl challenged us with a simple but profound question: Will we become better or bitter?
Scripture gives us examples of people who faced unimaginable hardship, Joseph, David, Job, and Stephen. Each had opportunities to become bitter, yet they chose to trust God instead. Bitterness doesn’t just affect us; it spreads and impacts everyone around us.
Healing begins when we surrender our pain to God rather than allowing it to harden our hearts. Forgiveness doesn’t excuse what happened, but it frees us from carrying the weight of offense.
Reflection Question:
Is there an area of hurt or disappointment that’s beginning to take root in your heart?
Prayer:
Lord, search my heart and reveal any bitterness that has taken root. Help me trust You with my pain and choose forgiveness over resentment. Make me better through my trials, not bitter because of them. Amen.
Action Step:
Identify one person, situation, or disappointment that you need to release to God today.
