What We Carry Matters
Key Scripture:
Hebrews 12:15
Scripture warns us to “see to it” that no bitter root grows up and causes trouble. That language is intentional. It means we have a responsibility to pay attention to what is forming beneath the surface of our hearts.
In the last devotional, we talked about waiting expectantly for the promise of the Holy Spirit. But waiting is not just about time—it is about condition. What we carry into God’s presence matters. We can be in the right place, doing the right things, but still hold onto things that quietly hinder what God wants to do.
Unforgiveness rarely announces itself loudly. It settles in slowly, through disappointment, hurt, or offense that we never fully release. Over time, it begins to shape how we see people, how we respond, and even how we approach God.
Revival is not only about receiving something new; it is also about letting go of what has been weighing us down.
Reflective Questions:
1. Is there anyone I have not fully forgiven?
2. Have I minimized something God is asking me to release?
3. What might be growing in my heart that I have ignored?
Prayer:
God, search my heart and show me anything I have been holding onto. I don’t want hidden bitterness to take root in me. Give me the courage to be honest and the grace to release what I’ve been carrying.
Action Step:
Ask God to reveal any unresolved hurt or offense in your heart.
