Empty Vessels, Full Dependence

Scripture: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7  

One of the hardest things to admit is that we aren’t enough on our own. Our culture celebrates self-sufficiency, but the Kingdom celebrates surrender. Pastor Charmaine reminded us that we are simply vessels. The power belongs to God. When we try to carry life, ministry, family, or work in our own strength, we eventually become exhausted. But when we acknowledge our limitations, we create room for God’s strength to be revealed.

Being an “empty vessel” isn’t weakness; it’s actually the starting point of God’s greatest work. He doesn’t look for perfect people—He looks for available people. The less we rely on ourselves, the more we can experience His power.

What area of your life are you still trying to control in your own strength?

Prayer:

Lord, I confess that I often rely on myself more than I rely on You. Empty me of pride, self-sufficiency, and fear. Teach me to depend fully on Your Spirit. Fill every place where I have been striving with Your peace and power. Amen.

Write down one burden you’ve been carrying alone and intentionally surrender it to God today.
