The Power Of Our Words

Scripture:

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up.” Ephesians 4:29

Pastor Earl reminded us that our words have the power to either heal or harm. Often, bitterness reveals itself through our speech - through criticism, gossip, anger, or careless words.

As followers of Jesus, our speech should reflect the grace we’ve received. This doesn’t mean we never speak truth, but it means we speak truth with love, compassion, and humility. Our words can become instruments of encouragement, healing, and life.

Before we speak, we can ask ourselves: Will these words build someone up or tear them down?

Reflection Question:

Do your words reflect the grace and forgiveness that God has shown you?

Prayer:

Jesus, place a guard over my mouth and my heart. Help my words bring life, encouragement, and healing to others. Teach me to speak with grace, truth, and compassion. Amen.

Action Step:

Go out of your way today to encourage three different people with intentional, life-giving words.
