More Than Words
Scripture:
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18
Being clothed in power isn’t just about what we say in church or how passionate we sound during worship. Pastor Steve reminded us that if we truly carry the power of God, our lives should demonstrate it. The world is looking for proof. People don’t just want to hear about Jesus anymore, they want to see Him.
We live in a generation that says, “show me.” Show me kindness when it’s inconvenient. Show me peace when life is chaotic. Show me patience when people are difficult. Show me forgiveness when you’ve been hurt. Anybody can talk about faith, but fruit is what reveals whether God is truly moving in someone’s life.
The Holy Spirit was never given to us so we could build our own image, status, or platform. His power points back to Jesus. If our lives constantly draw attention to ourselves instead of to God, we’ve missed the point. Demonstration isn’t performance, it’s daily surrender that reflects Christ to the people around us.
Reflective Questions:
1. Does my life reflect Jesus outside of church settings?
2. What kind of “proof” do people see when they interact with me?
3. Am I more focused on appearing powerful or actually bearing fruit?
Prayer:
Lord, help my life reflect You in a real and genuine way. Let my actions line up with what I say I believe. Teach me to carry Your power with humility and love, not for attention or recognition. Let people see Jesus through the way I live every day. Amen.
Action Step:
Choose one intentional way to demonstrate God’s love today through action instead of words.
