Reflecting The Refiner

Read: Malachi 3:3 & 2 Timothy 2:21

“He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver…” Malachi 3:3

There’s a beautiful picture in the refining of silver: the process continues until the silver becomes pure enough to reflect an image. Think about what that means for us. The goal of refinement isn’t simply becoming a “better version of ourselves.” The goal is to reflect the Refiner.

Less of our pride. More of His humility.

Less of our fear. More of His peace.

Less of our will. More of His.

Less of us. More of Jesus.

And through every moment of the process, remember: the Refiner never leaves the silver.

God has not abandoned you in the fire.

He is there, He is working, He is still good, and He is still sitting on the throne.

As we empty ourselves before Him, He makes us vessels that can hear His voice, carry His presence, and become useful for His purposes.

Maybe the prayer isn’t simply, “Lord, get me through the fire.” Maybe it becomes: “Lord, don’t let me leave this fire unchanged.”

Reflect:

When people look at my life, what do they see? What would it look like for my life to more clearly reflect Jesus?

Prayer:

Refiner, have Your way in me. Empty me of everything that keeps me from reflecting You. Purify my motives, my thoughts, my desires, and my actions. Make me an empty vessel, ready and useful for Your purposes. And when I walk through the fire, remind me that You have never left me. You are with me, You are working, and You are still on the throne. Let my life reflect You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s Action:

Take five quiet minutes with no music, phone, or distractions. Simply pray: “God, empty me. Refine me. Fill me. Use me.” Then give Him space to speak.
