Fear Shrinks In His Presence
Scripture
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12
Devotional
One of the greatest mistakes we make is expecting fear to disappear while neglecting our relationship with God. Pastor Steve challenged us with this truth: don’t expect to overcome fear if you aren’t walking with God, spending time in His Word, and pursuing His presence.
Throughout Romans, Paul continually points believers back to a life surrendered to Christ. Our faith wasn’t meant to survive on Sunday mornings alone. It grows through daily communion with Jesus.
When life gets busy, prayer is often the first thing we remove from our schedule. Ironically, it’s the very thing we need most. Fear grows wherever intimacy with God decreases.
His presence changes us. It reminds us who He is and who we are in Him. As we seek Him daily, our confidence shifts from ourselves to the One who never changes.
Reflection
1. How consistent has your time with God been lately?
2. What usually gets your attention before God each morning?
3. What would it look like to prioritize His presence this week?
Prayer
Lord, forgive me for expecting peace without pursuing You. Help me build a relationship with You that goes beyond routine. Create in me a hunger for Your Word and a desire to spend time in prayer every day. Let Your presence become my greatest source of confidence. Amen.
Today’s Challenge
Start your day with God tomorrow before checking your phone. Spend at least ten minutes reading Scripture and praying.
