Identifying The Battle
Scripture: “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.” 1 John 2:16
Pastor Earl reminded us that there are three enemies every believer faces: the devil, the world, and the flesh. While we often recognize spiritual attacks or worldly pressures, the hardest battle is often the one happening inside of us: our own flesh. The flesh constantly pulls us toward comfort, pride, fear, selfishness, and sin.
The good news is that God never intended for us to fight these battles alone. Through Jesus, we have victory available to us every day. The first step toward overcoming an enemy is recognizing that the battle exists and choosing to run toward God rather than away from Him.
Reflection Question:
Which of these three enemies do you find yourself battling the most right now?
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for giving me victory over every enemy I face. Help me recognize the battles happening in my heart and teach me to depend on Your strength instead of my own. Give me wisdom to walk in Your truth today. Amen.
Action Step:
Take a few minutes today to honestly identify what has been competing for your attention, affection, or obedience lately.
