Subtle Resistance
Scripture:
“Do not quench the Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 5:19
Devotional:
Quenching the Spirit isn’t always loud or obvious. Most of the time, it’s quiet, It looks like delaying obedience. Dismissing a prompting. Choosing comfort when you know you should respond.
We often think resistance to God is bold rejection. But more often, it’s subtle hesitation.
The Spirit speaks, nudges, leads—but we have to respond. Otherwise, over time, that sensitivity begins to dull.
Walking with the Spirit requires responsiveness, not perfection.
Reflect:
1. When was the last time I ignored a prompting from God?
2. Do I tend to hesitate when I feel led to act?
3. What might I be subtly resisting right now?
Prayer:
Lord, make me responsive to Your Spirit. Help me not ignore or delay when You are leading me. I want to stay sensitive to Your voice.
Action Step:
Act on one small prompting today without overthinking it.
