Holy Spirit: The Spirit Lives in You

Jul 7, 2025

SCRIPTURE:

Romans 8:9 “You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you.”

DEVOTIONAL:

We often speak about the Holy Spirit as if He's “out there”—something we reach for when we’re desperate or in a spiritual setting. But Pastor Steve reminded us: the Holy Spirit dwells in you. This is not poetic language; it’s reality. God has chosen to make you His dwelling place. That truth alone should radically change how we think, move, and live.

It’s easy to compartmentalize God into Sunday mornings or quiet times, but the indwelling Spirit means God is present when you’re doing laundry, driving to work, or navigating hard conversations. When you feel weary, anxious, or alone, the Holy Spirit is not just near—you are His home.

If you truly lived with this awareness, how would your speech change? Your decisions? Your reactions? The Christian life isn’t about willpower—it’s about presence. Not just you being present for God, but recognizing His presence in you.

QUESTIONS:

1. In what areas of life do I forget that the Holy Spirit is living inside me?

2. How would my daily routines shift if I carried more awareness of His presence?

3. Have I made room in my inner life for the Spirit to dwell fully?

PRAYER:

Holy Spirit, thank You for making Your home in me. Forgive me for the times I’ve ignored or minimized Your presence. Teach me to live aware—moment by moment—of Your nearness and Your voice. Rearrange the places in me that are too crowded or distracted to host You well.

ACTION STEP:

Schedule three “Holy Spirit Check-Ins” today—set reminders on your phone to pause, breathe, and simply acknowledge, “You are here, Holy Spirit. Speak to me.” Write down anything you sense or notice after each pause.
