Surrender In The Garden

Apr 2, 2026

Scripture: Luke 22:42

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prays, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” This is the moment of full surrender. Before the cross, before the pain, there is a decision.

Surrender is not easy. It often comes with wrestling, with laying down what we want, what we fear, what we don’t understand. Jesus models that surrender isn’t passive. It’s intentional. It’s chosen.

Sometimes we want clarity before surrender. But Jesus shows us that surrender comes first. Trust comes before understanding.

Reflective Questions:

1. What am I currently holding tightly that God is asking me to release?

2. Do I trust God even when I don’t fully understand His plan?

3. What does “not my will, but Yours” look like in my life right now?

Prayer:

Father, I trust You. Even in the unknown, even when it’s hard. Help me to surrender fully, not partially. Align my heart with Your will, and give me peace in the process.

Action Step:

Write down something you’re struggling to surrender, and physically place it somewhere as a symbol of giving it to God.
