Carry The Oil
Scripture:
“The wise ones took oil in jars along with their lamps.”
Matthew 25:4
Devotional
Oil is the inner life. The part no one sees. The devotion behind closed doors. The consistency in your spiritual disciplines. The honesty in your repentance. The hunger in your prayer life.
The foolish virgins weren’t rebellious - they were unprepared. They had enough oil for the moment but not the wait. That’s where many believers fall off. Momentary passion can’t sustain long-term faith. Emotion can’t replace habits. Extra oil is uncomfortable. It weighs more. It takes effort.
Carrying oil says:
“I’m not here for a moment. I’m here for the long haul.”
Reflective Questions:
1. Do I have momentary oil or long-term oil?
2. What discipline is God asking me to pick back up?
3. Where do I need deeper consistency?
Prayer:
Lord, increase my oil. Give me endurance. Build a private devotion in me that outlasts feelings and seasons. Amen.
Action Step:
Choose ONE discipline to re-engage: prayer, Scripture, journaling, worship, fellowship.
